The Project Begins...
60 years of Indian Workers Association (IWA): Legacy & Contribution
is a project that aims to collect, preserve and communicate the heritage
of the IWA, the oldest and largest community organisation in the UK
established in 1956 by people from the India Diaspora.
The project will record and preserve the histories and contributions of
survivors and 'first generation' families who settled in Southall in
the 1950s and 1960s, laid the foundation of the Asian community and
established both IWA and Southall as an icon for the Asian and wider BME
community nationally to emulate.
